Reflecting on a year of giving

As we end 2019 it is important to look back at what has been accomplished for Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital and Geisinger Pediatrics this past year through generous gifts from our donors.

In 2019, donations were used to provide equipment to care for the tiniest patients – our newborn babies and neonates. Infusion pumps, bassinets, sleep test equipment and web cameras that allow parents to see their babies when they can’t physically be at the hospital, were all provided for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Danville with generous donations. The nursery at the new Childbirth Center in Scranton was fully equipped with incubators, infant warmers, scales and bassinets and telemedicine equipment thanks to your generosity.

A new critical care transport ambulance at Geisinger Wyoming Valley was furnished with pediatric equipment to better serve the community and new equipment was provided to test babies noninvasively for jaundice. The pediatric cardiology team received new portable ultrasound equipment as well as new Holter monitors for the Geisinger Forty Fort clinic.

The Reach Out and Read program was extended into more than a dozen communities, promoting literacy in children 6 months to 5 years old. And several programs and specialty summer camps received operational funds to better serve children with chronic illness and injuries.

These are just a few ways donations to Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger helped children in our communities. There are many other examples and the need continues to grow.

Thank you for your continued support. We here at Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger wish you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons and good health for the coming year!

During this season of giving, make a donation.
