W&L Subaru Loves to Care program helps local patients

Eight-year-old Bromwyn of South Williamsport was curled up on her bed playing video games on the third floor of Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. With her mother Jennifer by her side, Bromwyn occasionally paused from her game playing to curl up in the fetal position and groan from her stomach pain — a side effect from her chemotherapy treatment. Jennifer gently caressed her daughter’s now-bald head and kissed her forehead trying to provide her with strength.

A knock on the door provided a momentary distraction to the pain. Two of Bromwyn’s caregivers entered the room and delivered a special metal lunch box filled with markers, paper, crayons, modeling clay and much more.

A small smile appeared on Bromwyn’s face, helping her to momentarily forget the stomach pain that crippled her moments earlier.

As part of the Subaru Loves to Care program, W&L Subaru has partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Geisinger Medical Center in Danville to offer oncology patients blankets and activity kits. Through the program and these generous donations, W&L Subaru is helping to spread hope, love and warmth to adult and pediatric oncology patients at Geisinger, patients like Bromwyn.

Thank you, W&L Subaru, for sharing the love and helping to bring hope to oncology patients at Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
