Rite Aid gives millions of kids the gift of growing up

For more than a quarter of a century, Rite Aid and The Rite Aid Foundation have supported the life-saving work of children’s hospitals. Through in-store fundraising efforts, special events and programmatic grants, their support has given children more than just critical medical care. It’s given them the gift of childhood, because the care they receive through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals lets them focus instead on what kids should be doing.

We are thrilled to announce that Rite Aid and The Rite Aid Foundation – in collaboration with their customers, vendors and associates – will support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals with more than $5.6 million of collective support in 2020. This year’s contribution brings the company’s lifetime giving to more than $102 million since becoming a corporate partner in 1994!

This milestone is the culmination of millions and millions of small acts of kindness. Much of the $102 million has been raised one dollar at a time from generous Rite Aid customers through the purchase of Miracle Balloon coupons or straight donations. All funds have stayed local to the CMN Hospital in their community and region. This includes a total of $1,536,820 for Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital to support programs such as the Child Life Program. Child Life provides activities and distractions for children admitted or being treated at the hospital and allows kids to be kids while in the hospital. Child Life relies heavily on philanthropic funds to help provide their services.

Surpassing the $100 million fundraising milestone is a tremendous testament to Rite Aid and The Rite Aid Foundation’s commitment to optimizing the health and wellness of the more than 2,000 neighborhoods and communities they serve. They aim to serve as a catalyst for positive change, with a particular focus on underserved and disadvantaged segments of society.

Rite Aid’s partnership with CMN hospitals provides another channel to support the health and well-being of kids faced with both serious medical conditions and socioeconomic and racial inequities that challenge them in securing the care they need. Recognizing that discrimination is among the greatest threats to one’s health and well-being, Rite Aid and The Rite Aid Foundation hope to confront and address these challenges and the profound inequities and divides in our communities.

We are grateful to Rite Aid and The Rite Aid Foundation – along with their customers, vendors and associates – for helping us to change kids’ health and change the future for all of us. Together, we will continue to build healthier communities and transform how our network of CMN hospitals meets the most urgent needs, saving more lives and giving the gift of growing up.
